WHAT ARE THE CONTRA-INDICATIONS ?
Iodine constrast agents are injected to allow visualization of the coronary arteries. Consequently, you must tell your doctor of any documented allergy to iodine, (which may require specific treatment before the procedure), diabetes or renal problems.
If you have any doubts about your current medications, you should discuss them with the cardiologist prior to the examination.
Some medications must be discontinued two days beforehand.
In summary, the contra-indications are as follows:
- allergy to iodine
- renal insufficiency or any other renal condition
- anti-diabetes treatment (metformine or similar) that should be discontinued 48 h prior to the examination
- impossibility to hold your breath for 6 to 7 seconds
