IN WHICH CASES IS MRI CONTRA-INDICATED ?

Any metallic object is likely to create problems within the magnetic field.

Contraindications are as follows :

  • pace-makers
  • previous metallic chips (intra-ocular)
  • body jewellery (they must be removed prior to the examination)
  • certain cardiac valves previously implanted

Coronary stents do not constitute a contra-indication to MRI.
