THE QUALITY CHARTER OF THE ICPSThe ICPS physicians are committed to a quality charter in order to deliver optimal quality care to their patients and ensure complete transparency in their relationship with their patients and referring physicians. Working towards eliminating anxiety and pain Before the intervention, the cardiologist describes the procedure to the patient. He assesses your anxiety level and after consulting with the anaesthetist, he may prescribe appropriate medication. Transparency of procedure and diagnosis The procedure will be described clearly to you. Furthermore, you will be able to communicate with the interventional cardiologist during the procedure. Dialogue and consulting After completion of the procedure, your physician will explain the various treatment options with their inherent risks and benefits. The interventional cardiologist will systematically consult with the referring physician who prescribed the procedure, as well as with his colleagues in order to reach a consensual decision. Respecting the patient’s choice In view of the examination’s findings a consensual medical decision will be proposed to you and not imposed on you. You will be given all the time you need to think about it and discuss it with your family members. Confidentiality and discretion The whole duration of your stay at Angio is protected by the rules of medical secrecy. Whether you choose to divulge your final diagnosis depends entirely on you. State-of-the-art equipment All interventions are carried out in latest-generation digital catheterization laboratories allowing improved visualization of the arteries whilst limiting X-ray exposure. All diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed with latest-generation, single-use, disposable devices. Constant updating of knowledge and skills All ICPS physicians participate in national and international interventional cardiology conferences several times a year. Furthermore, the ICPS is a co-organizer of the EUROPCR, an international educational meeting, with more than 15,000 participants from all over the world. You may be requested to take part in anonymous live case demonstrations which will be shown to an international audience. The transmission of knowledge The ICPS’s physicians are committed to relaying their knowledge and experience to foreign cardiologists who wish to perfect their specialization in this field. This explains why seasoned cardiologists, mostly English-speaking, spend a year in our center to complete a post-graduate training under the constant guidance of the ICPS’s interventional cardiologists and why you may hear members of the team speak English in the catheterization laboratory. 24-hour availability The ICPS’ interventional cardiologists are available for cardiac emergencies on a 24h basis, 365 days a year. They are ready for almost immediate intervention and are assisted by two nurses and an anaesthetist. In addition to emergency cases, the physician who performs your procedure remains at your disposal to discuss the results and the consequences of the intervention, as well as the therapeutic options available.Protection from X-ray and reduction of X-ray exposure Through the upgrading and replacement of their equipment, the ICPS’ physicians are committed to a reduction in the volume of radiation delivered to the patient during the coronary procedures. All ICPS physicians have completed a training program in X-ray protection in compliance with the norms established by a decree passed on May 18, 2004. All interventions must be carried out with the lowest possible level of X-ray delivery compatible with a successful procedure. |
