AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Rest is essential to allow adequate healing of the punctured artery.

The femoral artery is generally sutured by means of devices allowing the patient to stand up after a 6-hour rest.
Manual compression of your groin may also be performed for 10 to 20 minutes to prevent the occurrence of an hematoma.
Subsequently, the nurse will apply a bandage at the puncture site which should be left in place until the following morning.

With your physician’s advice, you will be allowed to stand up on the same day, 3 to 6 hours after the procedure.

Patients are generally able to stand up on the evening after the procedure or on the following day.
